Working in the Nursing team
In most fertility clinics, nursing runs alongside the treatment pathway. Here, our nurses lead and coordinate patient care from the first consultation onwards.
You’ll run nurse consultations, actively participate in daily patient case reviews, manage complex cases, and turn decisions into a plan the patient understands and can act on.
And because you’re the person speaking to patients most days, you’re the person who knows them best. How someone’s actually coping, what they’ve taken in, what they’ve quietly not asked about. That context goes into the room where clinical decisions get made, rather than sitting outside it.
You’ll also have something rare in fertility nursing: time. Time in a nurse consultation. Time to do a medication teach properly, so nobody goes home holding a box of drugs and a leaflet, hoping for the best. Time to call someone back.

Fertility nursing is often sold as rewarding, and then the rota does the rest of the talking. So these are the practical terms.
Most private nursing roles are salaried, which quietly means the extra hours are expected. If you work over at The Evewell, you’re paid for it.
Designed by the nursing team rather than handed down to it, and we’re currently looking at expanding how it works.
A good amount of the coordination work doesn’t need to happen inside a clinic, so it doesn’t have to.
Training in pelvic ultrasound, and enough scanning volume to become genuinely confident rather than technically signed off.

The nursing team at The Evewell has a defined route, with competencies for each level written down rather than left to interpretation.
We promote internally wherever we can. Movement from junior to mid to senior depends on your fertility experience and on the competencies below, and none of it is a mystery to you while you’re doing it. Expand any level to see what it involves and what it takes to get there.
Progression here isn’t only vertical. As we’ve grown, nurses have moved into other departments when they’ve found an interest elsewhere, whether that’s patient services, quality, or elsewhere. Once you’re inside The Evewell, the door to the rest of it is open.

Working alongside the nursing team, you’ll assist in theatre and recovery, take bloods, prepare rooms and manage samples and stock. It’s the role that keeps the clinical day moving, and it’s the fastest way to learn how a fertility clinic actually works.

Your first fertility nursing role, where you learn the treatment cycle from the inside. You’ll coordinate treatment plans, teach patients to self-administer their drugs, assist in theatre, recover patients after sedation, and begin your ultrasound scanning training.

You’re running your own caseload now. You’ll lead nurse consultations and take informed consent, coordinate treatment cycles from start to finish, scan patients for embryo transfer, and share responsibility for controlled drugs across the clinic.

The experienced end of the team, where you’re relied on for judgement as much as for hands. You’ll manage complex cases, hold responsibility for controlled drugs and stock, and mentor the nurses coming up behind you.

Running the nursing team on a site, day to day. You’ll hold the rota, lead the daily case reviews, and be the person the team comes to when a case gets complicated.

Our nurses coordinate and manage patient care through treatment, rather than assisting with it.
Day to day that means leading nurse consultations, running patient case reviews, managing complex cases, booking appointments and delivering results, and coordinating treatment plans off the back of the daily Bloods Review meeting.
Clinically you’ll support gynaecological and fertility procedures,
including recovery after sedation, phlebotomy, IV infusions and IM and S/C medications.
Trained nurses also carry out pelvic ultrasound scans.
No. The Evewell recruits nurses and midwives from other specialties and trains them, and our junior roles specifically don’t require fertility experience. What we’re looking for is a nursing or midwifery background and a genuine interest in this kind of care.
New nurses get seven to eight weeks of induction across both our Harley Street and West London clinics before joining the rota. You’re paired with a buddy and work through a structured training and competency pathway covering procedures, recovery, nurse consultations, reviewing results and patient contact.
Yes. Nurses at The Evewell can apply for training in pelvic ultrasound scanning,
and it’s one of the most popular reasons people join us. You’ll get the training and the scanning volume to build real confidence, not just a signed competency.
Our nursing team works compressed hours on a four and six rota, with hybrid working available for the parts of the role that don’t need to happen in clinic.
The rota was designed by the nursing team themselves, and we’re currently looking at

Yes. Overtime at The Evewell is paid, which isn’t the case in a lot of private nursing roles where a salaried contract quietly absorbs the extra hours.

The Fertility Nurse/Midwife will be responsible for patient care, information counselling, treatment, dispensing and administration of drugs.
The successful candidate will have a nursing or midwifery background and be passionate about providing a high level of care to their patients. No fertility experience is required.
