IUI, or Intrauterine-insemination is a procedure in which either fresh or frozen-thawed sperm is prepared within our laboratory and transferred into your womb in synchrony with ovulation and the release of an egg from your ovary.

Minimally invasive option

IUI is a straightforward, minimally invasive option for fertility treatment for couples that have been unsuccessful in conceiving without an obvious medical reason (unexplained infertility). It can also help in cases of hormone imbalance that prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg in the usual manner or in cases where penetrative vaginal intercourse is not possible. In the case of single ladies or couples that need to use donor sperm IUI represents a simpler and less invasive treatment option. All patients considering the use of donor sperm for IUI will be offered the opportunity to discuss treatment with a counsellor.

We know that fertility treatment is a considerable financial commitment. Our prices and packages are designed to be transparent, clear and fair. Our team are always on hand to chat this through if you have any questions or concerns.

Your treatment journey

We know that undergoing fertility treatment can be an anxious and stressful time. Our team will guide and support you throughout your journey whilst ensuring that they deliver first class clinical results.

Step 1

Your treatment journey begins with a consultation with your doctor to discuss your medical history and, if, necessary, any recommendations for further investigations. We focus on the detail so that we design an individualised treatment plan to deliver the best possible results for you. Dependent upon your medical history, IUI cycles can involve either minimal or no medication. You will spend time with one of our expert nurses who will guide you through the process and be on hand to provide you with care and support throughout your journey.

Step 2

During IUI treatment, your cycle we will closely monitor your cycle to ensure an optimal response to your treatment. This monitoring may involve tracking follicle growth, measuring the thickness of the uterus lining and measuring hormone levels to ensure optimal timing for the IUI.

Step 3

On the morning of the IUI, the embryologist will prepare the fresh/frozen-thawed sperm and you will be asked to attend the clinic later that day.

Step 4

Ongoing support

Approximately two weeks following the IUI, it will be time to do your pregnancy test. A follow up appointment with your doctor will ensure you are fully supported following your test result and will provide an opportunity to discuss any steps from there.
